Much of the work to reopen the mine has been completed:

  • The mine operates off the power grid and will continue to do so by installing a complete solar PV system whilst retaining the existing diesel generators as emergency backup.
  • The mine has an approved water use license (WUL) sufficient to meet the projects entire water requirement.
  • Three boreholes have been drilled and equipped with pumps and pipes to supply water to the mine.
  • Reverse osmosis and desalination plants have been installed for the purification of the water.
  • The decline shaft has been partly refurbished, head-gear erected and a winder house built.
  • There is great potential to further increase the mineral resource beyond the current area.
  • The mine has installed air-conditioned mobile offices, internet access, internal communication systems and security.
  • A weighbridge and vehicle washbay are available onsite.
  • Surrounding roads have been improved and fencing installed.

Benefits

  • Good road access to the mine.
  • Existing decline shaft which has been partially refurbished.
  • A developed mine with about 3km of development ends with exposed stopes and ore blocks.
  • Off-grid power supply with diesel generators on site.
  • Communication via 2 independent satellite systems operational.
  • Established water supplies, including boreholes and desalination and water purification plants, are sufficient to meet the mine’s water requirements.
  • A weighbridge available onsite, office complex, fencing and security have been installed.
